Laura Mellberg moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Bluffton, a charming coastal town near Hilton Head Island. She has lived in England and every time zone in the continental US, which enhances her perspective when building a tailored college list for students. Her students live throughout the US and Europe.

Laura's organized yet laid-back approach is a perfect match for college counseling. Her program includes bite-sized tasks and clear deadlines, and she teaches valuable life skills along the way. Her enthusiasm for admissions planning is clearly visible throughout her work. 

​

She has experienced the college application process with her own children and fully understands the challenges and range of emotions as a parent. Her youngest child is in college, and her oldest is in medical school. 

​

Fifteen years of travel writing sparked Laura's curiosity about people and places and crystallized her love for storytelling. She shows students how to convey their accomplishments and personalities effectively and engagingly through college essays and applications. 

​

In her free time, Laura is a travel blogger, photographer, and certified Master Gardener.

​

Laura earned a B.A. in English from Colorado College and a College Counseling Certificate with distinction from UCLA. She has visited more than 150 college campuses and attends professional conferences annually. Laura served as a virtual college coach for the nonprofit ScholarMatch, designed and led a five-day college essay workshop for a local private high school, and read applications for two national scholarships. She is on the Member Advisory Board for the software company CollegePlannerPro.
